The One Thing, I Hate
As Occupy is heating up and protests are spreading everywhere, I have seen only one thing that I do not like. It is sadly something more common with lefties than righties as a whole. And it is the demeanor towards cops. Now, I completely get being upset with the cops who started the violence with Occupy. I do understand that. But the picture above is simply wrong. Cops are generally good people. I know. My grandfather and future step-father are both cops. They are not evil. They do not start fights. They protect you and me. They literally put their own lives on the line so nobody will break into your house or mug you on the street. They try their hardest to keep peace, because it is their job.
Isn’t one of our big pillars wanting to protect those who are in unions or payed by the government? Ya know, the working class. Well friends, it doesn’t get more working class than the cop. My step-father puts in close to 65 hours a week. Is that hard working enough? And oh by the way, he does not have full benefits like health care or retirement because of the district he is in. Not only that, but when my local Occupy Group was protesting, he protected us. Even when local tea-partiers were trying to disrupt the protest, he told them to get lost.
So really, if I hear that cops are pigs, or as the picture above says, murderers, I will go off. I will tell you to shut the fuck up and I will call you the pig. I’ll spit on your fucking shirt and I’ll show you the feeling they have when they are called pigs for just doing their job. Again, what happened in Oakland was wrong. But demonizing an entire group of men. Whos job it is to protect, is just wrong. I saw a story recently about the Occupy group in New York who completely disrespected a church that was gracious enough to house them. Now, does that mean we are all thieves or that we all piss on crosses? No! So again, shut your fucking mouth about cops. Most of us do not, but the loud few, who do… They need to shut up. Because we are out their occupying with our principles of helping the working class. And the working class includes and is protected by, your local “pig”, the cop. If you saw this an attack, sorry. It is just my feelings towards that issue.
I love the police. I studied the law to be a prosecutor before I joined the Occupy movement. I know many good men and women who put their lives on the line every day, but what I have come to understand by partaking in this movement is that none of that matters at the end of the day.
There are certainly bastard cops and there are certainly just cops. It is, however, a sad fact that this distinction does not matter. The police in theory protect the people, but in practice protect the interests of the corporations and government officials. They serve those who are in control and use their discretionary power to enforce the divide and prevent democracy and freedom. Even should an officer object to what is done on moral grounds they still have a job to perform and unless they wish to be unable to support their families they will perform that job regardless of its legality or oppression.
The police as a whole are a tool of oppression used by the regime to keep the people under control. This sad fact makes it so that those with good intentions are still twisted and perverted. They are the complacent tools of a corrupt system and are themselves corrupted as a result.
